It’s one of the most common complaints I hear. And with decades of hands-on experience, I can tell you this: the quote isn’t always the problem. It’s the fine print- or lack of it.
Sound familiar?
It’s one of the most common complaints I hear from importers. And after working in logistics for over 30 years, I can tell you this: the quote isn’t always the problem. It’s the fine print – or lack of it.
So let me break it down.
When dimensions, weights, or icoterms are missing, quotes can’t be accurate. They lok good – until the invoice comes.
My fix: We always get the full story first. That meas checking documents, verifying cargo details, and quoting only when we know the facts.
Late document submission or delays at origin can lead to charges that wre never part of the original plan.
Our process: At JTM we stay on top of every deadline and keep all parties aligned. Proactivity is everthing in this game.
Airlines and shipping lines charge based on volume or weight – whichever is higher. A ‘small’mistake here can mean a big invoice later.
Some forwarders exclude handling, unpack, or cartage fees to make their quote look cheaper.
Rates in USD, fluctuating exchange rates, and fuel surcharges can all create unexpected shifts.
Truth is, freight isn’t getting cheaper. But it “can”be predictable – with the right systems and the right partner.
If you’ve been stung by a quote that didn’t match reality, let’s talk. I’ll give youa 5-minute review- no hard sell, just real insight.
